Cory Monteith is out and about again – and cheering for the home team.
The Glee star, 30, who completed a return trip to rehab last month, was spotted supporting his beloved Vancouver Canucks hockey team last night in his Canadian hometown along with ever-supportive girlfriend and costar Lea Michele , 26. It’s the first time the pair has been seen together since they were briefly spotted at Los Angeles International Airport on April 26 shortly after his release.
Last night, the duo looked completely immersed in the action on the rink, rising to their feet and excitedly cheering while waving a team towel and decked out in Canucks jerseys and hats for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs series against the San Jose Sharks at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena.
Michele Tweeted a photo of herself wearing Canucks fan gear before the game. Cory retweeted her message and also Tweeted , simply, #gocanucksgo two hours later. They were his first Tweets since April 26, when he wrote “sending out big love to everyone. thank you for the continued support! It means the world to me!”
It’s no surprise Michele is so enthusiastic in her support for her beau’s favorite team – she seems behind him in every way.
“She would have been very supportive and encouraging for him to seek treatment,” a Monteith source told PEOPLE last month. “It seems like she is a very steady hand.”
Despite the enthusiasm for their hockey team, the Canucks eventually lost to the Sharks 3-1, and both Michele and Monteith were spotted putting their heads in their hands.
But all is not lost for the star’s favorite team. The playoff series resumes tomorrow.
In these exclusive photos, the 30-year-old Glee star was seen on Friday out of rehab where he had checked in for substance addiction. A source tells E! News that he flew out of Antigua and to New York City solo and later reunited with girlfriend Lea Michele in Los Angeles.
On Friday morning, the real-life loves were seen at LAX, checking in for a departing flight. Lea, 26, was spotted carrying her passport, so it looks like the duo might have been going on a vacation together.
A witness tells E! News both Lea and Cory seemed “very happy, smiling the entire time.” When security asked Cory how he was doing, he said “good.” Both Lea and Cory were “friendly” to those around them, says a witness, and appeared in great moods and excited to get out of town.
They certainly deserve a little R&R! We wish Cory and Lea both the very best.
No, this is definitely not an April Fools’ joke. It has been confirmed by Cory’s rep that he has checked himself into a treatment facility voluntarily. As sad as this is, we must all realize that this makes Cory an even better and stronger person than we all knew he was.
Actor Cory Monteith, who stars as Finn Hudson on the Fox series Glee, has checked into rehab, PEOPLE has learned exclusively.
The actor “has voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction,” his rep tells PEOPLE. “He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery.”
Monteith, 30, has been open about his past struggles with substance abuse. He admitted in a 2011 interview that he had previously entered rehab when he was 19.
At the time, the actor said he hoped being honest about his struggle with substance addiction would help others.
“I don’t want kids to think it’s okay to drop out of school and get high, and they’ll be famous actors, too,” he said in 2011. “But for those people who might give up: Get real about what you want and go after it.”

Over the course of the four seasons that Glee has been on the air, the characters have performed many songs from yesteryear and made them popular again. Such songs include Don’t Stop Believin (Journey), Proud Mary (Creedence Clearwater Revival), and You Can’t Always Get What You Want (The Rolling Stones). The show has also revived many classic Broadway songs.
We spoke to Glee cast members Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith, who think it’s great that a lot of these older songs are popular again. Monteith joked that maybe some audience members think they wrote Don’t Stop Believin.
Cory Monteith seems like one of the sweetest guys ever. The Glee stud took time to pose for photos and sign autographs for fans yesterday (March 06, 2013) as he left Cookshop in New York City.
The actor was also spotted out with girlfriend Lea Michele grabbing some lunch in the meatpacking district.
The couple are in NYC ahead of Lea’s appearance on talk show The View, and the TV star excitedly announced she was looking forward to spending some time in The Big Apple, tweeting: “NYC here I come… :),” ahead of her arrival.
So does Lea Michele credit for their coupling up?
Glee creator Ryan Murphy. At PaleyFest, Ryan himself even stated:
“I directed them in their first scene together and they had that sort of chemistry that you can’t fake, and I said, ‘Uh-oh.’ So I did kind of know. I take credit.”
The Hollywood Reporter did an interview with Lea Michele recently, where she spilled a few details about Finn’s upcoming storylines. Make sure you tune in to a new Glee episode this Thursday!
THR: The last we saw Brody, we were lead to believe that he’s an escort. How much more of Brody’s secret life will we see?
Michele: You’re going to see a whole lot! (Laughs.) We have an awesome musical number — one of my favorite songs by Marina and the Diamonds — that really gets you in on what he’s up to. There’s a fantastic scene coming up where my knight in shining armor comes to inspect what’s going on and that person is Finn. The scene between Finn and Brody is insane.
THR: We’ve heard there’s a big throw-down between Brody and Finn. What’s going on there?
Michele: Santana tells Finn (Cory Monteith). She smells a rat and calls Finn to come and investigate what he’s up to. Whether or not he’s an escort, Santana thinks he’s dealing drugs, Rachel thinks he’s working as a cater waiter; it could be any of those three things.
THR: How brutal is that confrontation between Finn and Brody going to be? Is that where the cover of Radiohead’s “Creep” comes in?
Michele: It’s pretty hardcore! (Laughs.) I’ve got some great guys defending me! We shot the scene where she finally figures out what’s going on with him and that scene was pretty incredible to shoot as well. There’s been a lot of dramatic stuff this season. “Creep” is somewhere within the Rachel and Brody rise and possible fall.
THR: How might Brody respond to the pregnancy news? Will Rachel be forced to tell him or might he find out from Finn?
Michele: As of now, it’s still pretty top secret. Finn is back for this scene. I never go tot work with Cory, so Finn and Rachel don’t have any scenes together and what ever he does, he does without Rachel knowing. It’s really great to see Santana and Finn come to her defense.
THR: Finn was very confident in his future with Rachel during his romantic speech to her at the wedding. Does their recent fling restore her vision for the couple?
Michele: Rachel has so many things in her life that she wants to achieve. She wants to be an actress and be on Broadway. As much as she might know that Finn is endgame, she still has her eye on the prize as to what she needs to do with her life. She might be exactly where Finn is but she won’t let it outside of the box as much as he does. Cory has a great story line coming up where he really realizes, “What do I need to do with my life” and he goes down that path, too. These are two people who know what the endgame is but it’s still important that they get their lives on track, which I think is a really good message.
THR: How will Rachel help Finn find his calling?
Michele: I haven’t gotten to work with Cory in a really long time so that sucks (laughs) but I’ve been loving his story line. It’s really obvious that Finn is a great leader for glee club and he’s a really great teacher figure. That’s something that he’s realizing that he should look into and you’ll see where that goes.
Do you share any traits with your on-screen character Finn Hudson? We are both optimistic. There’s a childlike innocence to Finn that I can certainly relate to. I see a lot of myself as a 14-year-old in Finn. But we’re also quite different – I didn’t even graduate from high school first time around. I only got my high school diploma last year, which I studied for by correspondence.
What’s your guilty pleasure? Bad horror movies. I enjoy them a lot more than I should.
Have you ever had therapy? Plenty – and it works, 100 per cent.
Who would play you in the movie of your life? That’s a hard one. Adam West, maybe.
What was the best kiss of your life? The first one: I was 15, in a barn’s hay loft, with a schoolfriend. What a cliché.
Most embarrassing moment? Going into a swimming pool as a kid and coming out again without my trunks on. I was nine – probably the worst age for that sort of thing to happen – and I was so embarrassed.
What do you spend most of your money on? Rent, unfortunately. (more…)
These party clothes scream VIP—and having Glee hottie Cory Monteith doesn’t hurt, either! “I love it when a woman dresses tastefully but still sexy,” says Cory Monteith, our Gleecrush. Monteith and our model, Michele (not to be confused with his onscreen and real-life love, Lea Michele), had a blast hitting New York City’s trendiest spots for an epic night out. Your turn. [source]
When season four of the award-winning musical comedy drama Glee premiered in Australia last week, one cast member was noticeably absent – Cory Monteith, who plays Finn Hudson.
Finn was one of the seniors who graduated at the end of last season. While his girlfriend Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) headed off to follow her dreams in New York, Finn joined the army.
It’s all part of the evolution of Glee, which focuses on a group of McKinley High School “losers” who joined the school’s glee club and gained a new sense of belonging and self-worth.
Finn’s tour in the armed forces turns out to be short-lived. He accidentally shoots himself, is discharged and hits the road to find Rachel.
“That is a classic Finn move to shoot himself in the leg,” says Monteith by phone from Los Angeles. (more…)

F&W: Good morning Cory!
Cory: Hi you guys, how’re you doing?
F&W: We’re very very good. We’re excited to be talking to you. Thank you very much for coming onto the show, buddy.
Cory: The pleasure’s mine, thanks for having me.
F&W: A Canadian boy who has made it big – I mean do you look back on your career over the last few years and go, mate, this is it – do you go like pinching yourself?
Cory: Every single day I wake up in the morning, and I wonder if this is some kind of amazing dream that’s gonna end all of a sudden. And, you know, I’m gonna wake up and be somewhere else. Ah no, it’s been incredible, it’s been absolutely […].
F&W: And to think, that it’s only really been two names, that it’s you and Justin Bieber, and you guys have got a lot in common, mate!
Cory: [laughs] Oh man, oh man!
F&W: Is it an honour to be in the same category?
Cory: Of course! He’s a superstar – I mean, look at how many people adore what that guy does. He makes a lot of people happy, so – yeah, it’s been absolutely a pleasure. (more…)
